Marathon through the Jungle

Some are calling it a death march, but these few people are either all in it for the sport or for just pure craziness. These "super-humans" raced across 149 miles of the Amazon Rain Forest in just one weeks time. During their journey they encountered all dangers of the jungle, battling through swamps, bugs, animals, sickness, and fatigue. Most of the competitors made it strongly up to the third day, but the stress finally got the better of them as they had to throw in the towel. There were checkpoints at the ends of each days for the remaining contestants as they were given the chance to rest for the night. The real challenge then came, as part of the fifth day was all throughout the night as they made their way through the dangers of the dark. At the end of the 149 mile journey; only 13 of the 55 competitors remained, as the rest had given into the treacherous depths of the Jungle.

Skiers Killed in deadly Avalanche

This Sunday, three skiers were enjoying a normal day of the slopes on the Cascade Mountains out in Washington until tragedy struck. The three were skiing out of bounds past the "No Ski Zone" when one of them triggered a "Dry Slab Avalanche" which is the most deadly of all. The three were tossed down the mountain for thousands of feet until the avalanche finally subsided. There were also News Reporters on the same mountain when it happened, which they said "It was a horrific and terrible sight." Many people are now saying this is a major example of why the mountains put up the boundaries for your own safety and protection.

Change of heart from beyond the grave?

Osama Bin Laden, the former leader of the terrorist group "Al-Qaeda" who was killed last May is now turning up in the news once again. His brother in law has just revealed new statements that came from Bin Laden himself. He claims that Bin Laden told his family "Do not follow me down the road to Jihad" which means the Holy War or Fulfillment of the Islamic religion. In sub-text he means "Do not continue my ways of terrorism." Bin Laden stated that he wanted his children to travel to Europe and America, plus get an education and live their lives to the fullest. Currently most of Bin Ladens' family is being held in Islamabad by Pakistani officials. Although these new statements have people questioning whether or not Bin Laden truly believed in what he was doing.

Never too early for next year....

Super Bowl 46 is over and done with and we all know the Giants have come out on top, but now it's time to look forward towards next year. If history repeats itself (as it most likely will) the New York Giants will not repeat as Super Bowl Champs as it is just too difficult to repeat in the NFL these days. Some teams that will most likely not be going to the Super Bowl are the Minnesota Vikings (now with star running back Adrian Peterson out), and the Jacksonville Jaguars who don't even know where and who they're playing for. The main deciding factor though for the Super Bowl next year will be the fate of Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts. If Indy decides to keep Manning they will most likely go back to their normal days as top contenders in the AFC and could make a strong case for the Super Bowl. Although things are not looking so smooth between the two and whichever team snatches Manning, will then be in the running for the Super Bowl along with everyone else. The Super Bowl favorites in the NFC will most likely be the Green Bay Packers and the New Orleans Saints as the top two safe bets (who I believe will be the new Patriots-Colts of this decade), I would also throw in Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Detroit as the teams I believe will emerge as the contenders. As for the AFC, New England will always be up there (you can't take that away), but I would make a strong case for the Baltimore Ravens, and the San Diego Chargers as franchises very hungry for a Super Bowl. I would also through in Houston as a possible getting "hot" late in the season team. All of this though depends on where Peyton Manning ends up, and he will surely change the Super Bowl field dramatically.

Super Bowl Hype causes kid in Wisconsin to lose track of time

Super Bowl 46 is scheduled for this Sunday, and as usual the hype is living up to the event. Most are calling this the rematch of the decade, in a showdown between the New England Patriots of the AFC and the New York Giants of the NFC. Back in 2008 the Giants defeated the Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl 42 ending New England's undefeated season in one of the most shocking upsets of all time. This time around the two teams are more balanced, and Tom Brady and the Patriots are looking to seek their revenge. Both teams are tied with three Super Bowl wins each and are prepared to hit the stage in one of the most anticipated rematches of all time.
