Recently, a cruise ship by the name of Costa Concordia was traveling of the coast of Italy when disaster struck. The captain of the Italian cruise ship, Francesco Schettino steered the ship to close to a reef resulting in the capsizing of the vessel. This occurred at about 10:00pm last friday night just off the coast of Isola del Giglio. Passengers described the event as "Titanic like" with chaos and panic everywhere. Over the next 24 hours most of the 4,200 people on board were evacuated, but so far 11 people have been found dead and 28 still missing, among them two older Americans from Minnesota. Captain Schettino has recently just been arrested and is being charged for manslaughter, shipwreck, and abandoning his ship while passengers were still on board. Many reports from passengers state that "The captain and his crew were some of the first people in the lifeboats." This is causing an uproar from surviving passengers and we will learn more in the following week to come as to the damage extents of the ship, the charges facing the captain, and the missing 28 people still yet to be found.
